I am so jealous. I've been in love with Starbucks' packaging design for years.

That silk is so beautiful I may do the unthinkable and try a little crochet. I swore I never would.

I never like crochet cuz of the ropey texture look it creates on the yarn whatever lovely soft yarn I have tried. Crochet kinda remind me of macrame I did lots of those when I was a teenager in home economics class. Enhoyed it a lot but it is ropey. However I do have sets of lovely ebony and rosewood crochet needles for I am such a collector of fine tools. If you ask me what I'll do with my silk it'll have to be either weaving or knitting. But of course that's just me :-)

I learned how to crochet and knit both when I was eight years old. And so i never gave much thought to whether one was harder than the other.

But as an adult, mingling with other people who are obsessed with yarn, two facts have emerged:

Crocheters have an odd disdain for knitting.

Knitters are terrified of crochet.

Of course, it's not universally true, but close! And I just don't get it. The two different crafts are good for different purposes. If I'm making a three dimensional, scultural object, freeform crochet is TOTALLY the way to go. If I want something with smooth drape, knitting wins out.

You're doing a lovely job with the crochet. Enjoy the hooking!
