Looking back, looking forward

Thanks for everybody’s lovely and generous comments about my new sheepy gift! My friends were both surprised and flattered by your comments. And just for that, here’s a photo of some of the sheep from the Owens farm:

Sheep and snow in New Hampshire

Our holidays were wonderful and much sleeping was enjoyed. Is it surprising to know that I spent the morning of Christmas Eve dyeing?

More Blueface Leceister

… the afternoon was spent spinning…

Umm, yes, that’s more Blueface Leceister… and some merino/tussah from Deep Color Studio

… and New Year’s Eve was spent with friends, knitting this sock and drinking overly aged icewine…

Jaywalker, sock one down

Because of the nature of this skein of yarn, all the brown bits end up on one side of the heel. Fun.

Funny Heel

We’re five days into 2006 and I know big things are going to be happening to me and friends and family around me this year. Here’s wishing you all a 2006 full of good health, happiness, food and fibre.

Oh! And before you go, my friend, stylish Jen, wanted me to mention the new knitting bags up at Jordana Paige. Cute little satchels in blue, lavender and brown. Must. Open. Wallet.

That snow-covered sheep is too much! Makes me want to play with it in the snow! Jaywalkers are looking great - yay!

The sheep picture is great! It makes me want to wander around my lovely, snowy state, and find those sheep for myself. I guess I’ll have to do for my weekly walk to the LYS for the knitting group, I suppose. :)

Lovely dyed roving and handspun. I checked out the shop earlier - it’s wonderful. Those bags are going to get me into trouble. Sigh. Your jaywalkers are looking fabulous as well.

Love the sheep photos and the sock is just gorgeous. I’ve been musing over what to do with my gorgeous yarn from you. I don’t want to be a total sheep myself, but that jaywalker is fabulous! Hard to resist. The spinning and dyeing are also wonderful, per ususual.

Gorgeous yarn - although I must admit that at first I thought that closeup was of some pretty funky worms!

The sheep, yarns, and sock are all lovely. I hate to say this, but I don’t always like the Jaywalker pattern. Something about the predominantly light colors, with just a dash of something darker, in the yarn you’re using makes it look great.

And don’t you love it when your heels turn out like that?

I got some ice wine for my sister in nova scotia, soo neat how they make that stuff!

Aghhhh! I’m so jealous! You have the absolute best color sense, and I don’t know how in the world you get your roving to look so well. I wish I had just an ounce of your talent. It’s absolutely lovely!

How vibrant! I really need to get around knitting socks! The only thing is that the 2.5 mm dpns just hurt my fingers!

Such pretty english leicester. I wish we could get it here easily. Your new shop looks very bad and evil. Kellie N said you had one not on etsy now so I had to check it out! Once I have knitted some socks up then I can get more yarn :-) Sheep in snow. I guess that is what the fleece is for!

I love how your dyed fiber turned out–what great colors. The jaywalker sock is cool–that colorway shows off the pattern nicely. Happy New Year!

Great pictures, the sheep in the snow almost don’t look real, they are so beautiful. The sock still looks beautiful - the colours speak for themselves even if they end up in somewhat-odd places ;o)
