‘Tis freaking done.

River is done, done, done! I love the finished product but this wasn’t really the most fun I’ve ever had knitting. I memorized the lace chart, but sometimes I’d lose count and it’s not as easy as Birch to fix mistakes. But ah well, it’s done!

Ooh, it looks like little waves in the … river!

Oh, and I made the little so-called scrunchy thing too.

Oh so lux beaded scrunchy!

River

  • Pattern: Rowan 38, designed by Sharon Miller
  • Yarn: Rowan Kid Silk Haze in Smoke
  • Needles: US 10.5 / 6.5mm Addi Turbos
  • Changes: none! except that I blocked the stole a little wider…
  • Finished Measurements: 50″ x 21″

I think I may try wearing the stole with the little beaded do-dad. I find having to adjust and hold on to a shawl kind of annoying so anything designed to keep it in place and my hands free is awesome. Plus, it’s got those pretty sparkly beads in it!

And how fabulous is my brother? He just got back from Toronto, home of Lettuce Knit, where be bought some roving for me:

Fleece Artist Merino Roving!

I left the colour choices up to him and must say, he has some good taste! I love these and will get a spinnin’.

Speaking of spinning, I have packed my wheel today since I’m starting a spinning and dyeing class after work today! It’s being held at Place des Arts in Coquitlam with Irene Weisner. I think she’s the head of the Coquitlam Weavers and Spinners Guild or something like that. In any case, there will be wheels for the students to use, so maybe I’ll get the opportunity to try some new wheels out! (yes, yes, have been thinking about buying a second wheel! whee!)

So ugh, I’m off to work now. I must say, I’m going insane here — for some reason the tenants in the office below me are CONSTANTLY renovating and drilling directly into my floor. Our building is concrete, so every ten minutes it sounds like a jackhammer going off right underneath my desk. I get interrupted when I’m on the phone with clients — it is just driving me crazy. Sigh, off to get more coffee.

Love the shawl. I’m thinking of making one for my mother-in-law. I’d love to see a photo of you wearing it!

That roving is gorgeous. I can’t wait to see the finished product from those colors. You are truly lucky to have such a kind/attentive brother (pass that along; it might get you more roving).

Don’t ya just love siblings with good taste? Your brother did good! River looks beautiful. It seems like it was a pretty quick knit. Have a great time at your class.

River looks fabulous! I love the way you pinned out the edges. I completely understand your feelings about knitting it.. I’ve fixed a couple errors in my river-in-progress, but only through some trickery!

    Gorgeous!

Did you use two full balls of KSH? I’m short just about a quarter of a ball (that sounds dirty, don’t it?) and I’m scared to cast on if I am going to run short.

    It looks beautiful!

So pretty! I’m so glad to see that you did the beaded holder, too. I was debating on whether I wanted to do it, and now that I see it up close I love it! Do you have any fun occasion coming up for it’s use?

River looks so beautiful! It’s funny, I haven’t looked that close up to the pattern picture to see what was holding it closed around the model. Super cute!

OMG that is so pretty! If only I have the patience for lace…maybe one day.

Your River looks great! I totally agree with you on the boringness of the pattern but hey we get something beautiful out of it (especially after blocking!).

Love the roving and the yarn below, such yummy colors.

The magic loop socks are in optimum dk dyed with kool aid

What a wonderful brother!! River is beautiful. I have my KSH, patiently waiting for me to finish up projects :-)

River looks fabulously dreamy. I’m starting on a lace stole in KSH using a size 3US, but I’m thinking I’m going to go up a few sizes now that I’ve seen yours. Lovely work.

Hi! I realize this is a very old post but I was wondering if you could tell me if your beaded knot is stretchy. I just finished River and I either did something wrong or I’m just too thick to understand the instructions. Your knot looks so much nicer and wider than mine. And mine is not stretchy at all…I did put the elastic inside, just a flat piece. I wan’t to redo it but I have to figure out what I did wrong first.

Did you spin the warms and cools together? I don’t spin but the yarns with the warms and cools together are my favorites. I also like my colours grounded by just a little of nuetrals or earthy tones.

what do you think?
