Trellis: Another baby sweater

Baby things are so deceiving. They look so small, so cute, so… quick to knit… I get so easily sucked into the dream that I’ll be able to knit that baby thing up in no time. Of course, the operative words here are “no time”. What with working on the weekends and evenings, I can barely get a few rows in here and there. Of course that hasn’t stopped me from starting several new projects, ordering more yarn and more patterns… Anyhow. Here’s the start of Knitty’s Trellis baby coat/cardigan:

Back of Trellis from Knitty.com

I’m knitting this in some Rowan All Seasons Cotton that I picked up at Knitopia on the weekend. I think the colour is discontinued since I can’t find it on my latest Rowan shade cards. Oh, it’s Monday morning and my brain is totally fogged. I don’t even think this coffee is doing the trick.

It looks beautiful! I love the color. I agree about baby stuff, you think it’ll be fast and it never is. Could the color be Fern? Or Military?

I’m also knitting this up but in Cascade Cotton Rich. Yours looks so lovely! The stitch definition is so wonderful.

Hi Felicia, I am contemplating the shetland aran on Ebay. What colour did you get for Rogue? Is it the forest green? Your photo looks great but I am not sure its the same colour. Forest green might be less grey and more green…

I love that pattern! See my problem is that I have no excuse to knit baby stuff since there aren’t babies on the way for any of my family or friends yet! I know it will come someday soon… Hmmm… maybe that calls for something, right?! I love that shade you picked up :)

It looks wonderful!!! And all that moss stitch and cabling - soooo pretty, but….grrrrr… v-e-r-y s-l-o-w growing. I’m totally with you there. But it really does look gorgeous!! It will all be worth the unbelievable gorgeous-ity in the end (hee!) :)

I love how cable work shows up on worsted cottons, like Rowan’s ASC. Really adds to the texture!

Felicia, your knitting is so inspirational! I aspire to knit like you. What do you do when you make a mistake? Do you even make mistakes? Do you go back through and fix mistakes, or frog your knitting?

Should I just stick to dishcloths??

Beautiful!! I’ve just also started to knit this pattern for my daugther. I’m doing it in size 18 months to make sure it’ll fit by the time I’m finished with it. She’s now 10 months. Best of luck with your trellis!
