Happiness is also a finished object
Summer of lace, eh? What else to do when the weather gets (sort of) warm and you want to shrug off all your chores? Watch countless hours of Buffy and knit your lace shawl. So armed with seasons 6 and 7 of [Buffy](http://www.upn.com/shows/buffy/) and a full box of kleenex (who knew slaying vampires could be _so_ emotional?) I finished my Paisley Lace Shawl this weekend:

####Paisley Lace Shawl
- Pattern: from Spring 2005 Interweave Knits
- Yarn: Jaggerspun Zephyr in Lilac (50% merino/50% tussah silk)
- Needles: US 5 / 3.75 mm Addi Turbo’s
- Changes: none!
- Finished Measurements: 35″ x 35″ (blocking board was too small!)
- Zephyr is so soft and springy… and easy to rip back if needed.
Yes, the picot edge trim takes forever, but it’s worth the nice frilly finish that it makes. I’ll be wearing this to a wedding this weekend!

Your shawl is beautiful! And the color you chose is my fave. I’ve found blocking boards to be limiting as well…will they ever make a ginormous one?
Hi Felicia:
Where in Vancouver does one find a blocking board?? It is driving me mad; my finishing standards are going up and up and now I have some lace FOs that _definitely_ require blocking.
Thanks!
Miranda II
It looks great! I really love the color.
Was this the first time you watched Buffy seasons 6 and 7? Buffy is some of the best TV, ever. I knew you had good taste.
Beautiful! I had the same blocking problem with my PLS, and ended up pinning one side of it to the carpet.
I love the color of your shawl, and I completely agree about the picots – a pain in the rear, but very pretty!
Another Buffy fan! I own all 7 seasons on DVD… And I’m only a little embarrassed to say so!
Gorgeous shawl! And I love your pictures. Wish I had half your photographic ability (photography ability? ability to photograph?)!
Wonderful! As usual great photo, but I think that shawl would shine through a run-of-the-mill one, too. Beautiful.
Your shawl is beautiful! I’ve been tempted to make nice big lacy shawl lately, but have too many projects on the burner!
Thanks for posting a pic of the paisley motif! I was wondering why they called it that, when I couldn’t really see the “paisley’s” This is already on my “to knit list.” Just waiting to clear a few things off! Looks great and I can’t wait to see a picture of you modeling it!
beautiful lace shawl. much better than the pic on IK.
absolutely beautiful! the colour is gorgeous. we need to see action shots, definitely!
I’m so happy you finished it! I’ve been looking forward to seeing it. It’s so pretty, it’s perfect.
You have very good skills, that pattern looks tough.
That shawl is beautiful–such intricate work on the lace!
It turned out beautifully. Love the color!
The shawl is beautiful. I love the color.
Gorgeous. I just recently found your blog. (I’ve been under a rock.) Love it.
Beautiful!
Stunning, and this lace is just do beautiful! I do appreicate your good photos too, especially since the one picture of it was where you couldn’t even see the detail!
i LOVE IT. that is really beautiful and i think i now have no choice but to knit that shawl. you’ve inspired me, once again.
Simply Beautiful!!!
This is so pretty and yet delicate and sophisticated too. I’m sure it will look lovely on you.
Beautiful. I love the color.
So pretty! Such a beautiful shawl. Please take a photo of it on!
Your shawl is incredible it makes me want to start a new lace project. I have not been knitting much lately, because I have just learned to spin with a drop spindle. LOL By the way…I wear the cheese, it does not wear me. But I have to say the most poignant Buffy episodes for me was actually an Angel entitled “I Will Remember You.”
The shawl is very beautiful and in a gorgerous colour ! Great work !
Very elegant shawl! I’m sure you’ll look superb.
The shawl is gorgeous, and I have to agree, your picture of it is much more flattering than the IK shot.
As much work as it must have been, the picot edge sets the shawl off perfectly. A flawless combination! Congrats on a lovely finished object!
Your shawl is fabulous!!!! And Buffy rocks….don’t be ashamed!
Your shawl is beautiful. I made one also and enjoyed it a lot (well except for the end when there over 600 stitches on the needles). Wear it well!
It’s beautiful! Nice color.
Love your blog!
Sorry about hotlinking the Cascading Leaves, we didn’t know any better. I took it off and replaced it with one of my own immediately!
Happy knitting, cooking, spinning etc.
MJ
That shawl is beautiful! Perfect! Love it!

Perfect!! I love to knit and my husband is an avid photographer and we both love your site. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing shawl! I love that color!
Felicia, it’s beautiful and you’ll look great in it. Please post a pic of you wearing it.
absolutely fabulous scarf/shawl … marvelous!
You are so talented I can hardly stand it!!!
Beautiful shawl! When blocking boards fail, there’s always the carpet.
Lovely shawl, beautiful colour. I have found the answer to blocking boards, I bought an inexpensive hessian rug from our local DIY store. Even better is has a design that is basically 5″ squares on it but is you could use a plain one there is no reasoon why you couldn’t draw your own lines with a permenant marker. It is 48″ by 72″ ( you can get bigger) It allows you to pin out most shawls and you can get a whole jumper on it too. you can pin into it no trouble and when you are finished with it you can roll it up and put it away till next time. There are some pics of my FBS blocking on it on my blog if you want a look http://guernseygal.typepad.com/knitting_on_an_island.html
Nice shawl !
the shawl is amazing. congrats.
i sat on my butt most of april and watched buffy while knitting…
Really gorgeous–shawl and photos!
Absolutely STUNNING shawl! Your blog is fantastic and your knitting is just lovely….
Can’t wait to see the shawl in a picture being worn!
I am another Buffy fan and definitely understand the whole kleenex thing… and Rissa is right… the episode of Angel she mentions is a major kleenex moment!
AND (more importantly!) Your shawl is gorgeous!! Congratulations! I agree with the others – you must post pictures of you wearing it!!
Felicia, can’t get enough of that shawl!
Could you please tell me your Pimm’s recipe? DH and I are wanting to try it, after all your lovely BBQ photos (he remarked what a good eye you have!)
Thanks!
Beautiful! The colour is amazing. I am a Buffy fan too, I have season’s two and three on DVD and find myself unable to decide which season I should buy next.
You’re such an excellent knitter!
Thats’ really gorgeous.
