Felted Polwarth

Here’s what I’m spinning now — felted polwarth. Ugh. I must have agitated the rovings too much when I was rinsing them… Yucky. I still spins ok, but I’m just getting little lumps that I have to stop and pick out.

There’s that wonderful Ashland Bay merino that I want to spin up but I’m afraid I’ll ruin it! Must spin with a plan! What to make with that 1/2 lb of merino?

Life is too short to spin stuff you don’t enjoy! Maybe they can be saved for felted bowls or something? Sometimes a soak in water + hair conditioner (or frizz tamer with silicone) can help fibers get slippery if it’s not too felted, but then they’re slippery to spin and still no fun.

That’s too bad that they got a little felted. You are really turning into a very talented spinner!! Seeing how much fun you are having inspired me to get a drop spindle. I can’t wait to see what else you crank out!

Ugh–I did the same thing and ruined a batch of roving beyond repair. I can’t even draft it it’s so felted. I’m using it for stuffing some sewn critters.

I love the fluffy balls of roving, gorgeous colors. It’s too bad they felted. Hopefully you can still salvage it, the colors are so dreamy.

Okay, I give up. I have been trying not to ask you where you got your Polwarth but I can’t take it anymore. I need to be enabled. Can you help me? :)
