Cashmerino One-Skein Wonder

I have a little strapless blue gingham dress that I’m going to wear to my brother-in-law’s wedding next Saturday… so, rather than wear a pashmina shawl with it, I was hoping to make a little Glampyre shrug in Rowan Summer Tweed. But alas, my client meeting ran late last night and I couldn’t get to the LYS. I’ll try again on Saturday. But in the meantime, I thought I’d use up some leftover, stashed Cashmerino Aran for a “practice” one-skein wonder shrug:

Hmm, please over-dye me.

It’s cool to see it in-progress. I bought that pattern too, am thinking of knitting it in either HPY’s bulky (whenever it gets here…) or some Cash Iroha I have around. Either one will take some tinkering to get gauge, but the yarns are nice.

I’m interested in how your one-skein wonder shrug turns out. I thought of doing that recently but, as usual, I’m having trouble conceptualizing it. Are you knitting it as a cardigan or a shortie sweater? I’d appreciate any insight into what you’re doing!

How funny! I’m working on one too, except it’s to wear to a baby shower this weekend. I started it last night and I’m almost done with the main part! It goes by SUPER fast!

You’ll have fun knitting the shrug. I finished mine a few days ago and love it. I’m already starting another one.

I just ordered the One Skein Wonder pattern, because it looked just too cute on Knit and Tonic’s blog… Has anyone tried to do it in something like mohair? I’m going to do one in something closer to the pattern recommendations first, but I have a few balls of some pretty mohair that I need to do something with…the patterning on the sleeve probably won’t show up in mohair, but the concept of a mohair shrug is sort of intriguing… Anybody think it’ll work?

what do you think?
