Unlucky

Somewhere between “decrease every row” and “decrease every other row” I got lost. When you put down a project for a few days and try to come back to it, it’s easy to forget where you were and what you were supposed to be doing…the result? My unlucky cardi right front:

Hey lumpy bumpy, time to get frogged.

Yeah, I screwed up the decreases on the front edge of the right front piece. Yeah, I’m going to frog the entire thing. Ah, but captured here is the sheer ugliness of unblocked cotton. Lumpy, bumpy and ugly.

Back piece: Thanks for blocking me

Thankfully, this ugly, splitty cotton (Elann’s Endless Summer Lara) blocks out beautifully into a smooth fabric. There are a few mistakes on the back piece too — I missed one of the “leaves” in a clover leaf motif and at one point, I misaligned the row of motifs thereby altering the alignment of all future motifs. Whatever. You can’t tell from the photo, right? Right, so I’m not re-knitting it.

The back looks fabulous Felicia. What a different blocking made. It look super even now.

Sorry to hear about the front. What a pain.

I’m hearing a lot of people are having problems with this pattern. I’m not looking forward to it myself!

Wow! THat looks amazing once its blocked. I can’t tell where any of the mistakes were from the pictures. I hate having to frog things and will only do it if absolutely necessary or absolutely noticeable! Good luck finishing this one. I think I mentioned this before, but I love that color!

No, you can’t tell from the photo. I’m looking and looking, and can’t see either mistake you mentioned. I love the color you’re doing this in.

i love your blocking pictures! that back looks perfect to me.

The back looks beautiful to me. I say, “keep knitting!” (You may want to check your camera lens, I’m seeing some blurryness in your last few photos. The only reason I mention this is because I got a glob of something on my lens during vacation and had the same problem on a whole bunch of pics. Unless you’re going for some arty effect, in which case, never mind!)

it looks beautiful! Blocking has made a HUGE difference!! Keep it up! I am now working on the philosophy that 4th time is the charm…though knowing my luck, and my sock, it will probably be 10th time is the charm! =)

Your Lucky looks great! I had some problems working through the front decreases too, but once I got through the first side, the second one was a breeze. I’m slowly making my way up the back now. Keep up the nice work!

You’ve convinced me that blocking works well for cotton too. Ok, I’m going to be a good girl and block my ASC sweater that I’m working on when it’s done. And the Lucky back looks perfect.

So sorry about the front. What a bummer. The back looks fabulous! You’ll probably be the only one who notices the mistakes.

Back looks great. I remember a time those little imperfections would have drove you crazy.

Sorry to hear about the front, I had the same thing happen on something I’m working on and all of sudden it was-”Something’s wrong. This just don’t look right.”

I can’t wait to see the finished product.

The bottom of the images look a bit blurry like another knitter stated.

Oh, I want a blocking board like yours… The back looks fine, I’m glad you’re not frogging it.

I hear you! I did the same thing with my Popcorn Jacket. Put it aside and then got confused as to where I was in the waist shaping. Yours looks really good, though. I can’t see where the mistake is!

Ack! I just bought a bunch (too much) of Elann’s Endless Summer Collection Lara. All in all is it a thumbs down or up??

Love the progress you are making on the sweater.

The back looks wonderful…I wouldn’t change a thing on it. I know what you mean about frogging the entire front though. I am the same way and frogged half of a project recently and one yesterday that was about 1/4 of the way through…just didn’t like the way it was turning out. You have to do it though or what is the point in finishing something you aren’t going to wear or use?????

I just finished my back too. Yours looks great. On my first attempt I had to frog my back because I realized my gauge was off. On the plus side I didn’t like the original color so not all was lost. How would you rate the yarn you are using…would you buy it again?
