No Harlot

The closest the Harlot will get to Vancouver is Seattle’s Weaving Works. See the Harlot Book Tour and how there aren’t any Canadian cities west of Toronto? Sucks sucks sucks.
…although, this does allow me to plan yet another yarn shopping trip to Seattle.
On my list of things to pick up from Weaving Works: soy silk and ingeo (corn) fibre, more wool fibre and maybe some mohair, a set of Louet double combs, and some Koigu. I can’t believe I left their wall of Koigu PPPM untouched… there were just too many pretty colourways, I couldn’t decide… sad excuse — the situation must be rectified.

Hi, I started reading your blog recently and I just wanted to say that all your knitting projects are beautiful. You have very good taste. You probably get these compliments all the time. I also enjoyed browsing through your archives. I really like that yellow baby gift set you made. I know you made it back in March, but I’m really curious about that bootie pattern. I found a similar one by Debbie Bliss but yours are very cute, too. Where is that pattern from? Thanks! ~Carin
Darn another yarn shopping trip, how horrible for you! Hope you have a great time when the time comes.
What!? You left Koigu behind? That must have been very, very hard.
Oh but Weaving Works will be so much fun that day! I’ll be there and I can’t wait!
Maybe we could petition her to come to Western Canada like The Bear 100.3 radio station (AB) petitioned Motley Crue to come to Western Canda. What’da think do you think there are enough knitters out there??!! (C;
Have fun in Seattle, I hope you find everything on your shopping list.
Have a great time in Seattle! I love KPPPM. Luckily, the store I go to only had about 10 differnt colorways, so it wasn’t too hard to choose. I looked on their website though, man, there are tons now!
Can’t wait to see all your new yarn when you return!
The selection of exotic fibers like soy, hemp, etc. is more extensive at The Fiber Gallery in Greenwood. FYI
I am intrigued by soy silk and ingeo (corn) yarn -have you knitted with them before or have you something particular in mind to use them for? ps. I have been knitting the baby shawl by Debbie Bliss in cashmerino and although my guage is spot on I have run out of wool (yarn) - I don’t know how far you have got on your’s yet but I hope it goes better for you.
OK you make me GRRRRR. How I miss my old LYS… tell Joan, Patty, Kris and Shirley hi
and by all means do pet the koigu!
Not only are there no cities west of Toronto, there don’t appear to be that many East of Toronto either. It’s pretty said that a book published in Canada isn’t considered worthy of promoting in Canada…with the exception of the Centre of the Universe, of course.
Still, a road trip to Seattle is never a bad thing.
I’m planning to be there at Weaving Works, too. I can’t wait! August is pretty far away.
I was so bad at the Weaving Works Mother’s Day sale. I couldn’t decide what color Koigu either, so I got three.
Here’s to knitting socks!
I feel your pain. The Canadian “tour” is not handled by the same people as south of the border. (In Canada it’s not the publisher, but the distributor that’s responsible for all of this.) I’m just figuring out now that they have very little intention (regardless of pressure or sales) of sending me anywhere. I find it a little embarassing that a Canadian author can’t get any air time in Canada…but there you go. I’m doing my best to manage a few things on my own. So sorry.
