Handspun Skeins

Mmmm, love that Kool Aid scented yarn. This weekend, I spent a bit of time Navajo-plying my spun singles (while watching “Suicide Club”, a nasty, horrific Japanese movie). I definitely need practice with Navajo-plying — rather than getting three perfectly intertwined strands, I’m often getting two beautifully plied strands and a third that wraps around the first two. Definitely need practice… but first, I want to try a simple two-ply. That’ll be next.

My first handspun is the red/purple colourway.
It’s a little less consistent (read more slubby) than the green/pink skein.

Simply delicious! The colors are so subtle. Looks very expensive :) Love the red/purple…and handspun? Awesome!

I get my spindles today. I have some pre-dyed colonial wool roving to start with :)

If you like nasty, Japanese horror movies, you have to rent Audition (Odishon). Highgate is GORGEOUS!

I watched Suicide Club, and thought there were parts of the movie that were very interesting (like the part where the students “talk” each other into actually jumping off a roof) and then it just decended into wackiness and gore and eeh. Which is too bad, because there were those parts that I thought were good.

The yarn was worth the time, though! Very lovely.

Pretty yarn. I need to learn how to Navajo ply in a big way.

Highgate is lovely…the color is divine.

Some people pay a mint for slubby yarn. I think yours is very pretty. Congratulations on the finished sweater too.

it looks lovely. I am always astonished by hand spun yarn as I don’t ever see myself doing it :) nor dyed but that is at least more plausible.
